Description
So, I'm in the process of applying to Capliano College in North Vancouver and they require some "cartoony stuff" in my portfolio. Original cartoon work mind you. I have one other example, but I wanted something completely different to go with, thus, Chitto and Kek were born. I thought I'd share with y'all.
Can you tell I want to major in 3D computer animation? Even in my attempt at simple cartoons I come up with complicated 3D forms. xD Why can't I do stuff like Garfield and Calvin and Hobbs? Ah well...

I actually like Chitto better than Kek...But I guess that's 'cause I LOVE big, fat monsters! The shading's pretty good, too, but it's not very cartoony...
And the school wanted you to do a cartoony character(s) when you wanted to do something more realistic and complicated? I have the opposite problem...I wanna do cartoon and 2D-type stuff, but most of the employers want realistic and 3D, which I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever. Maybe it's 'cause I majored in Game Art and not Animation...

Actually they wanted to see life drawing, action poses and cartoons. I got the first two covered pretty well but coming up with original characters in an original style is sort of hard for me.

Let's see...Cartoons I can do well. Action poses I can do well. But I absolutely suck at life drawing. I'm actually a lot better at original characters and styles...

I love the drawing style. It reminds me of some sort of game conecpt design.
And after reading your comments, I can see that I was pretty close. : ) I plan to major in 3D modeling. But you have great concept skills. Can't wait to perhaps see some of your animating skills.

Honestly I'm still fumbling around the the dark despite my best efforts to shine some light on my skills and eventual career. I can see around things in my mind though, and that has to be worth something. xD
I'm taking a beginning modeling and animation course this semester, so we'll see how I fare.
