i thought vash was a asshole for just walking away like that. "oh, you're dead..oh well"..i would've bawwwed my eyes off and he was so indifferent..makes me think this sort of thing happens to him twice a week..

Well in the manga he HAS to keep going. He had to stop Knives. Vash also did cry quite a bit, even went so far to use up most of his remaining power to protect the orphanage. Because of Wolfwood he did what he never wanted to do...and that was take a life. While they at first had completely different views on life I don't think you can imagine even closer frinds than they were.
