"Alright, 5 more pages to go...that's all you need..5 pages..." You kept telling yourself as you anxiously walked down the path.
The flashlight in your hand flickered every now and then; sometimes it would turn off on its own, scaring the blue out of your jeans. But when you woke up in this snowy forest at night, it was already kinda busted up.

But hey, at least it works or else you're screwed.

"Ah! Here's the 4th page!" You smiled as you saw the white piece of paper taped to the tree. But just as you went to grab it, you heard a noise that sounded like T.V static in your head, before feeling a pounding sensation.

"Ow.." Wincing, you put both your hands on your head, rubbing your temples to soothe the sudden migraine. Then, it finally went away and you sighed with relief.

You took the paper off the tree and read what it said:

"It was ICE to SNOW you, kid."

You giggled a bit. On every paper you've found so far, there's been some kind of pun on it. The puns did, somehow, make you less scared and more determined to find the rest of the pages.

With a hum, you continued until you approached a tall, bare tree in the middle of a clearing.

It was then you started to get a sensation that you were not alone..

"Hey kid."

The static noises returned and you covered your ears, trembling in fright. But you could still hear the voice clear as day.

"Don't you know how to greet a new pal?"

Swallowing nervously, you put your arms down and turned around to face the person, shining your flashlight on them. You gasped slightly when you saw what he looked like: the figure wore a black jacket with a fuzz-rimmed hoodie that was up. But what REALLY creeped you out was the fact that he had NO facial features whatsoever-just a blank, white head shaped like a human skull, though slightly wider.

"Ah!" He shielded his face. "Don't ya know it's rude to shine a light on people's faces?!" He growled.

"O-Oh! I'm so sorry!" You squeaked, immediately turning off the flashlight. You weren't about to ask him how he could have been blinded by a flashlight if he didn't have any eyes.

"It's fine kid. Let's just..start over......" He sighed. "Hello, human. Why don't you shake my hand?" The creature extended out a skeletal hand to you.

Hesitantly, you reached for his hand, but then you saw several black tendrils behind him, making you shiver with fear and almost recoil your hand.

"C'mon, we haven't got all night..actually..we kinda do but you get the idea.."

Sighing, you finally grasped his hand only for you to feel something squishy and hear a loud raspberry noise. "Ah!!" You recoiled your hand as the skeleton-creature..thing double over with laughter.

"Man, the old Whoopie cushion gets 'em every time!" He chuckled. You weren't sure how he could even laugh with no mouth.

"Must've gave you quite a scare, kiddo." He stood up straight. "Anyways, my name's SlenderSans, but some call me Slans. You got a name human?"

"O-Oh it's [y/n]," you stuttered. "And I-I don't mean to sound rude or anything..but were you the one making those noises?"

"Like the static n' all? Yeah that was me," Slans replied, putting his hands into his jacket pockets. "You must've thought you were going nuts...huh, it seems you've found most of the pages. Nicely done kid."

"Oh? These were yours? You set them up?" You raised an eyebrow as you looked at the papers.

"Yup," he nodded. "But unfortunately, not many of my vic- I mean people like my jokes...so not to alarm you but if they call them stupid I um...sort of..kill them."

Your eyes went wide. "O-Oh..well I-I thought they were pretty funn-"

"I already know, kid," he chuckled, waving it off. "I heard you giggling, so I take it that you do like them. Congrats, you're one of the lucky few that gets to live."

Relief washed over you when he said that. You didn't want your death to be from some faceless, hooded, pun-loving monster.

"But..."

Two tendrils reached out, grabbing both your wrists, making you gasp and drop the papers. Slans pulled you close to his face.

"Since you're so determined to find the remaining pages, how about you try that before I consider giving you your freedom?"

You nodded hastily. "O-Okay, I will t-try my best."

Slans nodded, before letting you go. You picked up the pages you dropped and turned on your flashlight, before you continued down the path.

"Oh, and don't worry, kid. I'll still be watching.."

"What..Slans are you saying that you've been stalking-"

But when you turned around, he was gone.

"-me..?"
