Description Welcome to the nightmare in my head- Mz. Hyde by Halestorm

Lately it feels like world war 3 is going on in my head, constant highs and lows. So welcome to my nightmare.

I also only found out about this band today and I have to say I'm loving them, and this song is perfect so I'll leave a link below .

Nightmare or pleasant dream-all depends on the perspective.

Every month I go through my collected artworks here on deviantart and then split them between a journal feature here and a little blog feature on Wordpress.

-> picturebandit.wordpress.com/20…

This image has been included in my eighth feature of 2014, of course as always with dedications and link to the original.

If you would like your artwork removed, let me know. I posted it in the spirit of "sharing is caring" not to steal your spotlight.

regards,
P.B.

This looks great!  (Despite the emotional darker overtone)  The background feels a bit like an old photograph due to how fuzzy everything looks, and the sky looks a bit washed out, yet the definition of detail in the foreground of the blades of grass, strands of hair, even the feathers on the wings give an eerie vibe; they feel over exaggerated and out of place to some extent, but do so without fully breaking away from the entire piece.  Gives the feel of a gloomy and hopeless world, and a puzzle asking if you're there to add tension and uneasiness, or if you don't belong there at all.  Very nicely done!    (Also, I'm loving the recurring themes of birds and light levels in your pieces.)

Thank you very much when I had this image in my head the only part I pictured was my pose, except in my head I was standing up. So actually this photo turned out a lot better than I imagined it would. Haha yeah slight obsession with birds although in this one I was going for a fallen angel, when I've read about them in some of my books they seem so tortured and misunderstood. To be honest if I ever got a tattoo though it would be something to do with birds XD.

Ah, I see... the tortured and misunderstood piece is an interesting perspective; an angel fallen from the world, or perhaps from the self (since the nightmare you described sounds like one of an internal conflict).  A sad place to be indeed, though it's often through those troubled gates we emerge as who we were meant to be.    Ha!  Well, a tattoo of birds would pretty much cement your devotion to them.  XD  Not that that's a bad thing of course, so long as the ink/art is lovely and holds long-standing meaning for you.

As a watcher I saw the original version of your image and I thought the same as maybe-paper-hearts, the goal posts and lines did detract from the pure fantasy look of the image that you were creating, and now they’re gone, it looks perfect!  I think your pose here works really well too, as it really does imbue a sense of darkness, melancholy and of a somewhat broken character.  I’m pleased you revisited the editing, it was totally worth doing, as now you have a very powerful and visually strong image!

I agree when you say “Thank you so much for the advice, I wish people would do that more often”, but unlike maybe-paper-hearts I never feel comfortable doing so, and so never ever do, as I don’t know how an individual might react to such things!  Us artists are very sensitive souls after all!  But it would indeed be nice to have more of a creative dialogue with people here on DA I think, above and beyond the usual “great pic” and “thanks for the fave”!

I wouldn't say perfect or at least not to me XD. I definitely agree that the image is a lot better especially in terms of atmosphere  . I also like the idea of a broken character I didn't think of it in that way  . Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

I agree I think it's not helped by the fact that you can't actually hear the kind of tone someone is using, if that makes any sense at all. I must admit it is a bit disheartening for someone to pick out stuff from your work and say it needs changing/improving, but sometimes you just have to take a step back swallow your pride and try to look at your work from someone else's point of view. If you never take any criticism you'll never grow as an artist, at least that's what I believe just as long as people don't start being purposefully mean then I'm okay with it.

Indeed, written critiques are hard to pitch right, but as long they are done with good intent then all’s good I think, and the emoticons can help enormously too to get the persons tone across and hopefully avoid any misunderstanding!  Have a great weekend!

there's no doubt that the concept is interesting. I just have a one remark: the sky should be darker if we're talking about nightmares and you should eliminate/remove the goal (gate ?) on the background because it's bright on the line of darker trees and attracts attention of a viewer.

Thanks . I did have a gloomy type of image in my head when I went out to take this but unfortunately the sun decided to come out when the weather report totally said rain!, I know what you mean though and if you see the sky originally this is a lot darker. Thanks for pointing that out!, when I was editing the grass was putting me off for some reason now I realise it was probably the lines :/. I've actually just edited the goal posts and lines out and it already looks better so thank you, I may re-upload. Thank you so much for the advice, I wish people would do that more often
