Not sure how I feel about this one. I'd appreciate honest feedback. Usually my criteria for whether or not I keep a painting is asking myself whether it is something I would hang on my wall.

inviting and vibrant color. The 'splatters' give it edge.

I love this one. Vibrant and full of life. Of course I could say a lot more but the painting speaks for itself.

Thanks! I am still undecided about that one.

i like the random feeling to this. did you plan it, or plan for the basic structure of the elements?
the squares look , not tidy, but they work together. the splashes make it look like it has depth. i like the drippy look vs the squares. i like the big brush strokes . very bold colors, i like that.

did i tell you that i'm ? i left for quite awhile and came back with this new account. i wanted a fresh start. looks like you're still doing impressive work.

The white "cross" in this and the hot orange red square in the lower right are the areas where you come closest to that precision of geometry. This would be stronger maybe of the white "cross" squares were 90 degree sharper and more defined.

Also I'd say don't worry about the titles as much. They can tend to make us think it needs to "be something".

It already IS something - a painting! I get where you are coming from though. But don't worry about tying painting back to reality or referencing the everyday - it is enough to just make the marks.

Also as another opinion only maybe consider a mix of rigid geometric squares mixed into the less defined geometric squares so there are moments of mechanical precision playing against the freeform organic squares. That could create more tension as the viewer moves back and forth between super precise (90 degree angles) and looser shapes.

It would also subtlety indicate to viewers that you invested time into the crafting aspect and would convey more of a sense of intention in the softer squares. This might change the point of view that it was just "accidentally" arranged - even though I know that is not the case.

Also keep in mind organic shapes and color fields can still be subject to volume. Nature is inherently abstract and still shows thickness and models light and shadow of the shape of its weird indistinct forms.

Again opinion but one that has been developed after years of dealing with similar issues myself!

For what it is worth and if it is not too late I would leave this one as is. It might not entirely be my preference subjectively speaking but I absolutely was attracted to the color harmonies and sense of "punctuation" with the hot colors - in fact enough so to be intrigued to view it in more detail.

One of the first/most expensive abstracts I sold professionally is one that I was not even going to include in the show until a friend and fellow artist said something to the effect of, "put it in the show - you don't know what everyone's visual taste is..."

I like your painting and the criteria you use. In most cases, I think in the same way. There are very exquisite works that I would never hang on my wall.

I know the feeling. I find myself in the same place. If in doubt I usually paint over. Out of the canvases in my gallery on deviantart only a few have survived.

Having said that, I like the idea of this piece. You have to be happy with it.
