Blue Jay's have a pouch in their throats called a "crop". They can store food in their crops so they can take large amounts of seed and eat it somewhere else, or stash it away for later. They can even fit acorns and whole peanuts in their crops. The easiest way to tell males and females apart are by their calls. There are some calls that only females make, and calls only males make.
