Description According to the 18th century German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 'Architecture is frozen music'. Striking a chord today is the Clarendon Building in Oxford, UK. Originally built to house the Oxford University Press, and once a police station, the Clarendon is now part of Oxford's Bodleian Library. It was constructed in 1711-13 to the designs of Nicholas Hawksmoor, a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren.
