An Olds like this got me into muscle cars and I actually took pictures of that car and drew it. It was the second vector car I'd ever done and I was never happy with it, which is why you don't see it here or on my website. Not too long ago I got into those Jada Toys Big Time Muscle diecast models. If you like em low with giant wheels and rubber band low tires then these are for you. I set up a photo shoot with that sweet evening light and my model car then went straight to Illustrator. I wanted to smooth it out and clean up some of those little rough spots that make it look like a toy. Anyway, this is a tribute to the car that started it all for me so I wanted it to be clean and I gave it all my curve drawing skills. Hopefully they show because there are some complicated curves in this.Related content

It's one of Jada Toys Big Time Muscle cars and I really dig the deep dish too. Just makes it look tough. Thanks for all the faves too. I've dug around in your gallery in the past I'm pretty sure. Might have to go see what's new.

Had something similar to this go though the auto auction this week. Not nearly as customized though. It was 1971 Olds 442. Same black vinyl top and same ram air hood, but blue in color with black rally stripes and with the classic rear spoiler. It had a 455 cid under its hood fed by a four barrel carb. I'm not sure what brand of carb, but it did have Accel HEI distributor. Interior was black vinyl with a front bench seat and T bar shifter in between. Wheels were 18 inch alloy American Racing mags in a five spoke design, but I'm not sure what they were called. Tires by Michenlin under the Pliot Sport brand. P255/40ZR18 in front, and P275/40ZR18 in rear. $8,000 is what the dealer wanted, and with the prices of classic muscle cars these days thats a bargin. I don't know if it sold at that price, but I think it did sell.
The name says it all. Four barrel carb, Four speed trans, and Two exhast pipes out back. 4-4-2!

I didn't know all the details on that 442. All I told you was what I gleaned from looking it over. That's all I know. It might have been real and the dealer might have gotten more than $8,000 given the current market for classic muscle.
Lately a lot of notable muscle cars been coming through the auction. The week before the 442 ran a 1991 3rd gen Camaro whent though. That had 305 v8, K&N filter, Edelbrock headers, 5 speed trans, dual 2.5 inch exhaust, and a roll bar sans back seat. This week there's a custom 1970 Camaro and a what looks like a stock 1972 Changeller R/T.

8 grand?!?!?! who where what when? Either something was fishy or someone didn't know what they have. Even if Olds aren't the hottest car on the planet right now a real 442 should be worth more and even if it was a clone, it had more than 8,000 in it ... from the sound of things.
