There isn't much behind this piece save for the fact that the reference image makes me think of fairytale winters. And what better time for fairytale winters than a few days before Christmas, hmm?Once upon a time I actually got told off for drawing fur. The guy who flamed me was a douche. He didn't even know it was a drawing, and when I clarified to him that it wasn't an actual photograph and I wasn't making some awkward 'wear fur, kill baby animals' statement he said to me 'oh, well I wasn't interested enough to bother reading the description.' That was his excuse for not knowing it was a drawing.

Anyway, come get me PETA, because I had a hell of a fun time drawing the fur in this, and I will draw fur again! :cue wicked bad-guy laughter:

Edit: Those of you saying there's no shading on the nose, TURN DOWN your screen brightness for god sake. There is plenty of shading there, which I can see on multiple monitors. So guess who has the problem? : points at you :

I love that look in his eyes and how you "suggested" his lips with shading, not with drawing the actual lines. Since I read your tutorial I've been paying more attention to certain things and it's nice to see them "live" than just reading it.

Charcoal.. That's dope. I thought you'd be using some hard and soft graphite, but it really came out well with the dark contrasts and the face is really clean.

Sorry I haven't had time to comment on your pieces! My internet was being a bitch, and I lost a bunch. At any rate, this one is just as lovely as all of the others. Fur is a pain in the ass to draw, and I applaud you for showing that it can be done. And in charcoal, nonetheless.

Particularly on the fur. I like the shading of his mouth, and the lighting on the eyes is very nice, as well.

But... fur is a pain to draw. O.o Like layered hair. Well, that is, if you're going to be anal and perfectionist about getting it exactly like the picture. 
The shading of the nose is unusually flat, although it works. And, uh, there's a weird circular 3-d thing at the top of the forehead? Is that meant to be there? It looks vaguely like some string got on it, but it could just be some glowy hair and I'm missing the point.
