Just for fun, I did some Final Fantasy VII fanart. It's a great game, though severely overrated... it doesn't need any more fanart
But I did it anyway. Ah well.For references, I used about 30% concept artwork by Yoshitaka Amano, about 50% character designs by Nobunani ( 笑 ) and about 20% of my own stylistic preferences. I didn't take quite as many artistic liberties with the characters as I was originally planning, for fear that the characters would be even less recognizable than they are now. I drew the nine playable characters, though I love all of the villains, too.
Never use this much screentone. Seriously.

I'd say that Cait Sith is, coincidentally enough, my favorite character that you drew here. I mean, I like everyone else, but I love all of the details you put on him - the crown, the fur, the mog's eye, and especially the ribbon going out onto the entire picture. I really like it a lot. It kinda looks like it mixes with Vincent's ribbon, and each of their fabric things melting into the blackness kinda shows some symbolism, too. At least, that's what I think. You prolly didn't mean for it, but I think it's totally rockin.

oh, nice. this is definitely getting set as my wallpaper. I really like the way you used your drawing style in this, and the texturing and colors that give it an aged, printed effect.

I like this for the screen tone work, even though getting screen to the computer almost never works as well as you wish it would, this really manages to retain the classic feel that screen tone offers to a picture. I almost wish that you ould have given different characters different emphisis by either drawing them at different levels, or with varied panel widths, but it may not have been as easy to get that awsome scarf in there connecting every one. That's a really genieous design element, that I catually didn't noyice until I panned back again. Your integration of different character designs is awsome. Thank you for sharing such an awsome background with us.

I was originally going to put all of the characters at different levels, but it began to look too scattered, so I settled with it like it is. I'm not quite sure if I like it better, but no going back now
