Description ...Ew.

This female squirrel pelt was sold complete, with all her claws and everything, but not taxidermy quality. Still, I stubbornly tried to do something with her, because it looked like it MIGHT work, but the results are less than perfect.

She's stuffed with soft batting and wire armature, with a hand carved foam head. Her leather was so stiff, even after rehydrating, that her face and feet remain deformed, trying to fix them would result in damage.

Still, the squirrel (which I call "Wretch," I think it's fitting) has an odd, ugly charm to her. Not bad for one of my first mounts, and for the quality of the pelt, I'd say I did my best. How good my best is, well...

She's for sale or trade, make me an offer. I really don't have a home for her at all here, so just about anything would be good. I'd especially like fox tails (any color, but I'd LOVE one dyed an unnatural color) a wolf legskin or a complete ermine. Also on my wishlist, craft grade pelts (without heads, feet or tails.)

Aw yes, as much fun as taxidermy is, one needs to prioritize funds. (I learned that the hard way, never buy an elk face when you've only got twenty dollars to your name.)

The biggest issues is the head is too small and the neck... is too thin? It needs either foam or something in there. Also, if there is wire, maybe pose it less... dead? XD Not sure what I could offer, but I kinda want her to go with my juvenile squirrel I mounted so I can have an adult and baby. I'll be honest and warn you I'd be remounting her though... so dunno if you are ok with that. I know some people aren't. Does tooth/claw necklaces interest you?

Teeth and claw necklaces are awesome, it depends on what kind. Yeah, the neck was really... odd for some reason. It had the thickest skin, and whenever the head turns it sort of bunched up and looked really sickly. She can't hold a pose very well, she'd have to be wired down.

If you did buy her I'd be OK with you remounting her, but I will be completely honest, she's been rehydrated twice already and her face and feet are very stiff. I honestly don't know if she could handle another try without coming apart.

I have mostly coyote teeth and claws right now, though I do have access to a fox tooth or badger claw too. I think I still have gopher teeth too. Odds are the neck was thick because she wasn't properly fleshed. It may need some thinning there.

Did any fur fall out when you rehydrated it? I always do a test patch before I fully rehydrate anyways. If she can't be remounted that's ok too. I still like to have a variety of critters of different ages around for painting ref.

She doesn't seem to have lost any hair. If you're really patient with her and work carefully she might yield good results, I just want to make sure you know she's rough around the edges before considering buying her.

I've got someone who asked about her before you who's going to send me some photos of a different trade item first, if I don't like what she has then you'd be next in line. I'd be interested in the gopher teeth.

Ok, let me know. I've mounted "scrap non mountable" pelts before. I know the risks, but with patience they can give good results. [link] was a non mountable pelt I mounted, so I'm used to the process.

Ah, alright then. I just want to make sure I'm honest about what I'd be sending you.

It's fucking scary.
I want it.

How about a bright orange fox tail in exchange?
( I mean bright orange XD but it's got little black strands in it o_e. Obviously dyed, but cool XD)

Also, it's in two halves but I can stitch it back together.

Is it sad I want it? I actually like it... reminds me of the vintage taxidermy you see in museums. Good job on trying it - can't wait to see the next, you can only improve from here!
