Hehe. By all means, go take your Ir shots. And yeah, I felt like most of them go to the extent of white leaves, but none went this far!

in reply to =kkart 's free critique journal, here is some brutally honest critique of your work
nice, but grainy. If you darkroomed this digitally, why didn't you clone out the flare? great lighting.

Thank you for -liking- it, hahaha! No, seriously, thanks. I did not remove the flare because I like the effect, makes it surreal.

it doesn't make it seem surreal, it makes it look rubbish.

The amount of detail in this shot is incredible even for photography! I like the way you've captured the outlines of every leaf and blade of grass. The power line (I think that's what it is) draws the eye across the image to the flare of light, reinforced by the line of trees. The orange tone makes this a really strong piece, with lots of subtle tone changes that add even more interest.
I'm not sure if they were intentional (I'm not familiar with IR photography), but there are several little places where it looks like there's water spots on the lens, which is a bit distracting.
Other than that, though, a very solid and dynamic photograph!

Thank you hon. Actually, the problem with the little 'wetness' on the lens are chroma aberrations caused by the L-series lens-type coating. It usually serves to enhance visible light (but the lens, being visible-light optimised, really will annoyingly create chroma aberrations for IR wave lenghts.) However, this problem can be fixed by using a sensitive enough camera to keep the exposure short and thus prevent huuuuge aberrations (like the ones in this photo) from forming. Oh, well. Thank you for the kind comments, hon!

Interesting, especially the bright streak down the side that looks like a falling comet.

Thank you! The streak was actually an IR chroma aberration which the LPF of the camera causes... I can't help it. But I left i there because It looks amazing...
