Description
Straight from one of my brainmeltyhandmoveydoodleys, a hemispherical furry lump/fluffy bump.This one's a wolflump with lovely grey fur and a cute wee tail. 12cm diameter. I wanted to see what I could do with snouty critters and I think it went well.

is it actually a shpere? or is it slightly oval shaped? or even shaped around the nose? I can't quite tell from the photo.
I'm looking at making something similar - got a load of scrap fur hanging about, but mine would probably end up fairly patchwork looking so I was also wondering many segments was this one made out of?
mine could never look as cute as this one though

This is based on a sphere yes. How it works is that I made the top half a true sphere (four segments) then I made the base not a circle but shaped so that the nose protrudes a bit. It works because fur fabric tends to be stretchy so it bulges at that point even though the top half is cut as a true sphere. Does that make any sense?
In my later work (I have yet to upload) I actually make muzzles as an extra few pieces (three) which protrude much more.

Each ear is made up of two triangles, with the black ones bigger and stretched a little so that the ears curl inward.

It's actually a hemisphere, but that has the same principles as a sphere. I used maths, mostly, after my mum helped me figure out inside-out thinking. Basically, spheres are made out of four curved bits of fabric. If you look up patterns for juggling balls on the internet, you'll see what I mean. Great site here - [link]
It took at least 2 hours. I'm really slow >_<. It was a mix of machine and hand sewing.
