Description I based this work on an excerpt from a very beautiful poem called "The City Told Me", by SabbathLiterature. The full poem is at [link]

"The photographer stands in the cathedral,
Looking up at smashed windows,
Holes in stained glass filling with night."

The poem has a sort of sad, haunting beauty to it, and I certainly hope that I've captured a small piece of that here.

I like this! Beautiful colours and textures, and the sadness.

Excellent work!

Thank you very much! SabbathLiterature's poem gave me a lot of imagery and inspiration to work with.

I get inspiration from people's pics on here, and have knocked out a quick ode to go with one or two.

Huh, I've never tried that before; it's kind of cool how the artists of all kinds draw from and reinterpret one anothers' work; it's like an endless cycle of inspiration.

It's just the spur-of-the-moment thought that sparks a response, then the muse kicks in.

I think we all pick up feeds from others works, whether we realise it or not. Maybe some act on them, some not. It's got to be a good thing one way or another.

Definitely a good thing, and I don't believe it's limited to other artwork, either - whether intentionally or subconsciously, I think all artwork is a response to ideas and impressions in the world around us. <- (just my two cents ^^ )

I've often been driving around during the day, and had a split-second glimmer, and started to mentally 'write' an ode or poem. But by the time I get home, it's all gone. Dissolved into the day's stress pool. Ho-Hum!

Oh, yeah, that happens to me all the time. Darn ADD moments. I've started writing them down when I can, though, and that's really helped.

I'd have to get a dictaphone. Can't really write when driving.

Hmmm! Depends which side of it you're on. On the oblivious side, there are no more problems. On this side, it's the worst thing on Earth!

Being a father who has lost my only child, I know the life-destroying trauma it brings.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but so very sadly, it happens.

I'm OK. Never be the same as I was in so many ways, but I'm OK.

Thank you!

No problem!

You're a beautiful and brave person; I can't imagine handling grief like that.

I thank you for your kind words.

I don't feel brave, as I regard bravery as a courageous act, selflessly, willfully carried out in the interests of others. When you suffer the loss of a dear one, an act not of your own making, it's just a matter of living with it. You survive or go under. Having not had a great childhood myself, I have had to learn that surviving, and mainly alone at that, is the only option open to me.

I'm sad... I cry... But I get on with things as best as I can. A great sense of humour has helped pull me through most things.

It's the least I can do. You are very wise, and I don't doubt for a moment that you can weather through this. But I sincerely hope that, whether in a month or five years, you won't have to survive through this alone.

And yes, I can certainly see how humor could be a lifeline at times like that.
