....and here's Astronema.When i started drawing Trakeena a month ago, more than one person said "hey, are you going to draw Astronema? I like her more."
My initial reaction was "no! What is that? Quit asking questions! Raargh!"
...but then i looked her up, and thought... okay, she has cool hair, and the actress who portrayed her was super cute. Okay, i'm game.
But she's NOT cooler than Trakeena. Trakeena was a sexy vamp killer queen, and Astronema, as far as i can tell, was just some crazy woman who had a robot head, which allowed some other robot to reprogram her head to make her act like some gigantic asshole.

....did anyone notice back when i drew that comic of Zoel being fat that you can see a poster of Trakeena on her wall?
I was clearly telegraphing all the Trakeena drawings that were to come shortly after.

Cyborg-Astronema is creepy and soulless looking while normal-looking Astronema has a pretty mysteriousness and soulfulness about her.

I always found her sexier than Seven of Nine. Better hair, better costume.
Kinda surprising considering the budget differences between Power Rangers and Star Trek. (but well, I was never a big fan of Voyager besides the Doctor, so...)

I feel there had to have been a better middle-ground between full Borg makeup and costume and what we got with Seven. Though that would probably have required more thought going into her character's conception than trying to rope in the Baywatch crowd.

Personally, I like both Astronema and Trakeena. I think Trakeena derived alot from Astronema's character in that they were both essentially sexy princesses of evil (modern power ranger shows needs more of these XD), but in Trakeena's favor she was evil from beginning to end and didn't undergo a redemption arc toward the end or have to be brainwashed into doing evil (she was always bad, simply got better at being bad as time went by). Both lady villains are cool in their own way, and beautiful too :3

Ah, Astronema. Another of the fun Villainesses... though I didn't like her cyborg form so much.
She was awesome with the purple hair, hence why I had Rouge playing her in my 'Power Mobicon' pic.
She was never a robot. She was a near-human from the planet KO-35 who was kidnapped and brainwashed when she was young... not quite sure how she got cyborged later though

The cyborging was after Astronema renounced her evil ways about mid-way through the series. She was later recaptured and placed under cybernetic brainwashing to keep her evil.
I personally think it was a cheap ploy brought on by Saban playing the "bad-guy turns good" scenario too soon. They should've waited until they were sure the show was ending instead of in the middle of the series to drop that bombshell.
