I imagined him ingame moving around very sloth, so the player just stumbles onto his cut scene very shadow of the colossus style, but when he gets pissed off (25% HP) he goes crazy berserk like kong lol.
when designing always have them alive in your mind like you are playing the game or seeing a scene in a fantasy movie.

Yes, subject background or feasible behavior always help a lot with its design. I like this guy because it's pretty cool, and reminds me a lot creeters from my younghood, without being none of them:Wampas from Hot, Ludo from "Labyrinth", trolls from norse fairy tales, the critters from "Critters", Rawhead Rex, and possibly many others... I'm not saying it was inspired nor composed by them, but that the image wakes up lost memories, and that's nice.
