I love her expression and the way you've captured it. I know this sounds ridiculous but in my mind this drawing almost resembles the way I see Mephistopheles from Goethe's 'Faust'....most probably because of the strong lines and cold colours

I never did a more finished version of this, actually. I liked the sketchy, loose quality of it and so I left it at that.

Just lots and lots of drawing practice. You might look around deviantART for stock photos of faces with exaggerated expressions and draw them; learn to push things a bit farther than you see in the photo.

This was a particularly good photo and made the job of drawing that much easier.

Thank you very much! Yeah, the brushes available in Photoshop are quite amazing and can simulate some traditional media amazingly well; lots of fun to play with.
