Are you going to update this with an accurate T. rex?

so after the new design for the Tyrannosaurus is released, do you plan on doing another version of this with the updated Rex?

yes. (sorry the late response)

I mean this was uploaded 3 years ago, so you couldn't really blame it during that period of time.

Their model was reasonably accurate for the time, apart from the short tail and too long legs.

Danny-Buckle In reply to Corallianassa [2016-11-09 17:16:41 +0000 UTC]
Accurate? Yes. The problem is that the colouration and weird facial markings make the design give off an unappealing aura.

According to the devs, the Rex is male. They confirmed that parental care will be solely PATERNAL for Tyrannosaurus.
So, please, DO NOT MESS WITH THE BABBIES! PAPA WILL GET VERY ANGRY!

Looks that way. There is no clear distinction between genders for Rex ATM.

Do you know if/think there will be some kind of sexual dimorphism in the official game?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Imperator-201 In reply to scyther500 [2016-06-26 20:47:42 +0000 UTC]
Tyrannosaurus won't have much dimorphism as far as I know, no color differences, maybe differences in the lacrimal horns for males or general size or build for either. I know for a fact that Anzu, Ornithomimus, maybe Dakotaraptor, Anatosaurus, Triceratops, and Pachycephalosaurus are getting it.

Congratulations on getting fully funded, I've never seen a kickstarter get funded so quickly!
This piece always brought back pleasant memories of the Tyrannosaurus hunt in Walking with Dinosaurs and it looks even better than before now that it has the (in my opinion) superior T.rex design. I always look forward to your uploads Saurian related or otherwise, you're one of the best paleoartists on dA.

Actually, Edmontosaurus. Anatosaurus is just a synonym of Edmontosaurus.

Saurian team seem to go with that ancient name tho... I don't understand why as well. That's why I add the "-" on the name.

Palaeontologist Dr. Thomas Holtz also considers annectens to be a separate genus:
www.geol.umd.edu/~tholtz/dinoa… ;
www.geol.umd.edu/~tholtz/dinoa…
Additionally, genera as a whole is a subjective concept (eriorguez.deviantart.com/art/G… ), so calling the taxon Anatosaurus annectens instead of Edmontosaurus annectens is not incorrect, as it is a sister taxon to Edmontosaurus annectens. Plus other Mesozoic dinosaurs (i.e. Mapusaurus vs. Giganotosaurus) are split over less differences than Edmontosaurus and Anatosaurus anyways (Mapusaurus differs from Giganotosaurus carolinii mostly by lacking a tiny pneumatic space in the quadrate, while annectens has a different skull shape and apparently even pattern of integument from regalis: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ).

I have the description paper of Mapusaurus (I can send it to you if you like), they're split by no less than 17 anatomical characters. By comparison, E. annectens and E. regalis are split by what, 3 or 4 anatomical characters?

MarvellousMemento In reply to TyrannosaurusPrime [2016-05-30 17:09:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I have been thinking that their skulls do indeed looks very different.
But why do they use Anatosaurus? Not the previous genus name that E. annectens had been used for a while, Anatotitan.
