As much as I love the ol' village nestled against a cliff motif, (and I really really do,) there's a part of my brain that can't not think about the threat of rock falls and landslides in such scenarios. So to fully enjoy this truly excellent work, I must choose to believe something is going on here to counteract the threat natural erosion would otherwise pose. Magical protection, impossibly durable fantasy rock, something.

Thats a good point, I always feel that way too - architecture that doesnt seem to really be static enough to hold its own weight for example.
But in some cases I kind of appreciate it, as it can show a certain type of naivity and tension.
