Description 12x16 Acrylic on canvas (2003). I almost forgot about this picture, but I found a scanned copy on my older, nearly non-functional computer, which motivated me to dig up and rescan the original painting.

wow. I am doing an acrylic painting on the same size board. Any tips on how to get so much detail into the 16x12 size? Seems like you know a lot about it. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I usually just use very small brushes, particularly for things like vegetation although you can get good results even with larger bushes depending on how you use them. For really small detail, obviously, you have to go with a liner brush. Although this was done on canvas, you may also want to consider Masonite (sp?) or clay board since it’s a bit easier to paint small on flat hard surfaces instead of more textured canvas.

A nice little swimming hole complete with puppies! ... Sort of. I'm sure they'd share.
