Boy, who's left now? There can't be very many to go (I know Selena was going to be the last one, and I asked for a picture of Sonja to go with Marcus...but who's left after Murchad III?)...and then there's a background for them all to go on, isn't there? Looking forwards to seeing them all!

Hey, I know it's weird, but the whole Murchad thing is a family naming tradition. It goes back as far as Murchad Ua Éire, the son of Cill Dara Ua Éire, all the way back in the 4th Century. Technically speaking, this is Murchad VI, the only reason the number counter reset is (I think) due to the fact these guys are nows actually kings of somewhere.

I'm not saying it's normal, take one look at Murchad the Fat -this big, rolling, Biran Blessed-esc dragon who acts like a competent Robert Baratheon (Oh... , I think we need to re-address the OC VA meme!)- he's not exactly normal either. They started off as the unoffical kings of the dragons of Ireland, then fled Ireland after the English invaded, became Welsh, then ended up as the official kings of Wales. Say what you will, these Murchads take to crowns like they were born to them.

From memory, the reason they're all called Murchad is because in dragon society, it's almost always the females who inherit rather than males, so the original Murchad wouldn't have been able to pass down his last name...so he and his descendants got around this by naming their sons all Murchad, so that a line could still be traced back to him. Eventually one of the Murchads passed his last name down (Murchad the Fat's granddad), and his kids just continued the custom anyway.
Oh, and yes, they are numbered differently...it's confusing, but that's how it works with royalty; the numbers only count when you're ruling a state. For instance, King James I of England was also King James VI of Scotland...so Murchad I of Wales is the first Murchad to rule Wales, even though he's the fifth dragon of his line to be named Murchad. Before then, he was Murchad III of Deheubarth, since his family had held that title since the third Murchad.
