yay. I just started watching death note and i'm up to episode 17. So far i still have no idea how this anime is going to end. But whilst looking up references for these guys i came across names like 'near'.OH AND CURSE YOU WIKIPEDIA. I went to :spoilers: wikis page for some reason i cant remember for light yagami. You know the sidebar thing on a wiki page that has basic infomation like voice actors, age of character, birth date etc. why the helllll did they find the need to put date of death there!?! As soon as i saw it i skimmed up heaps quickly so i vaguely remember the date.
;o ah well i guessed something like that would happen anyway.

I haven't seen live action (I started it, though) but I both read & watched it. I watched in both subbed and dubbed though LOL they started to play it on English on the television so I just watched it again.

the manga is finished. has been for a while. as for the anime, I couldnt tell you, although I bought several volumes, I was so disappointed in it I stopped watching. in my opinion a series like this is better enjoyed in manga form, because it's more thoughtful and character driven than action. The anime, as far as I watched, basically ripped scenes directly out of the manga, and any actions scenes were done with cheap action lines and sweeping frames. But the manga has all kinds of cute dramatic nuances, expressions, and better characterization. but that's just how I feel. I'll put it this way, I loved it so much I bought the series in full in the english and japanese versions. Ive never finished a manga series before. = )
Death Note is a wonderful story. be careful on the interbuttz though, you're not the first to be spoiled to it. I was spoiled so violently that I stopped reading for two years. I was glad when someone convinced me to pick it back up though, because it was well worth it. you still have a lot of great twists and wonderful characters to go.
by the way, I forgot to tell you, this is an amazing piece of art.

yeh the movie is practically based on the some of the same scenes but totally different ending for sure :3 and a different way of how Light retreived his Death Note.
