Red Pandas are so cute.
I actually have a story in the brainstorming session where one of the fantasy races is based off of Pandas that split into two different species that to us resemble the Giant Panda and the Red Panda. The Reds tend to be secretive and a little hostile because of how everyone wants to cuddle them for their cuteness which is part of their appearance because that was what the females liked. So because of the 'Everyone wants to hug a Red' mentality the other races have Reds tend not to leave their country unless there is one that wants to better educate itself.

Yep and the main story is about an Orc who was raised by a human couple. They don't really hide the fact that he isn't human, unlike some other stories do with that situation, and just raise him as their son. Since this mostly takes place in a post-medieval fantasy setting, probably closer to the Victorian era in style, the world is mostly at peace and is in the middle of progression and enlightenment on what other cultures are like. Pretty much Orcs are still the outcast race, but only because, like the Japanese, they care about their traditions and heritage and don't want that to change. Because the main Orc was raised outside of that culture he has no clue on how to behave as one. So one day he goes to study it for a research paper at the local university, which would be the equivalent of Oxford, and sees how different their way of life is different from all the other races put together. One example is how the other races never see a sick or crippled Orc. They think it's a case of culling out the weak but in actuality they don't want the non-warriors to get killed in battle so they have jobs for them such as being the blacksmiths, doctors, butchers and farmers needed to give them some form of society. Heck they even encourage the ones that are more brains than brawn to figure out how to improve things to the point that they have medicine more in line to how we do medicine unlike how the other races still believe in blood-letting.
In short the Orcs of this story are more advanced than the other races know while the Pandas, divided into Reds and Monochromes, are more like the East Asians cultures before the European colonizations and Roos, half-human kangaroo people, are similar to the aboriginals of Australia. Humans though are European in nature, except not all white.
