I am so very VERY excited about this piece!! This is a friendship piece for my pal and it's made from dyed turquoise and coin silver.

Awhile back a friend who owns a jewelry store was pretty swamped and he got an order for a custom cat head pendant. He was complaining how he didn't have time to carve the wax with all the other stuff he had to do. A pal of mine who does computer work for him suggested me since I play around with clay sometimes. I can't even TELL you how delighted I was! I had never got to carve wax for a piece of jewelry before. Kind of scared me to death, though, since my experience was sculpting, not carving--there is a huge difference.
Anyway he said if I'd do the work for him he would pay me AND let me make a piece of my own and teach me how to do it. I just about dropped dead right there! I've always wanted to learn how to make jewelry!!

Anyhow, this is the piece I got to make. It's mine from design to finish! I got to carve the wax, make the mold, melt the metal, use the centrifuge and spot welder! He helped me a lot, of course, very patient guy because I was forever forgetting things.

Sorry if this in any way sounds like bragging, because that's not at all my intent. I'm just so EXCITED about what I'm learning! And he says that if I find the silver myself and I want this to become a hobby or maybe even a job he'll keep on teaching me! DAVID IS AWESOME!
