Description She splayed her hand on his chest and pushed him backwards in his seat. His jaw hit his chest as she purred, "I'm the Goddess of Spring, baby. Remember what all the animals do in spring?"

Rape: 5. Archaic. the act of seizing and carrying off by force.

The old use for the word always seemed more suitable for the Persephone myth than the modern interpretation. And then, why not take it one step further? If you do use the modern interpretation, who says Hades was the one doing the rapin'?

Minor edit: Fixed a tiny detail on Nerdb.. I mean Hades' pupils. Also, there's a part two now, at [link] -- warning, may contain chibis.

I really like the coloring on Persephone, it makes her look very innocent -smirk-

chilalisnowbird In reply to FracturedReality [2010-04-07 17:30:59 +0000 UTC]

Innocent like a fresh young maiden, barely a woman, with cheeks like peaches and lips of cherry wine, crawling up your thigh with the intent of a female rabbit... Yeah, it was probably not the reaction he expected when he abducted her.

Let that be a lesson to you, Hades...

Mess not in the affairs of females, for we are not subtle, and we will rape you.

XD

I have a feeling that once he managed to pick up his jaw and restore his dignity, he probably was not too unhappy with the outcome. I mean, he could have had some teenager stomping around his castle screaming, "It's not fair!".

I can't help it. There are so many parallels. I don't know if it was intentional, but Labyrinth stole with arms and legs from Hades.

With one of the rare differences being that Hades would probably never prance about in tight pants and glittery-poofy hair styles, singing about slapping babies and worlds falling down.

Nah, but on the other hand, I have a hard time picturing Jareth waking up at night screaming about nightmares in which his father swallows him whole or other post-traumatic disorder remnants from the war against the Titans?

A mortal raping a god? If I believed in them, I'd expect you to get cursed for eternity for this. But I don't, so it's cool.

Well, Persey was a goddess too, so I suppose that bit evens out. That said, I don't think -anyone- believes in the Ancient Greek gods these days so I'm probably safe from random thunderbolts and the like.

-very serious expression-
Just trying to learn a new painting technique. Honest. Classical motif. Yes. Very serious business, that.

... Okay, I admit it, I get bored to tears doing 'traditional' classical pieces. Gotta be twisted some way or the other.

You know, I think if you moved his pupils slightly to the left, it would make him look more like he was staring at Persephone, rather than the viewer. But I don't know if you can do that, or how hard it would be to do.

...WIN.

SO. MUCH. WIN.

I love your reinterpretation of the myth (even as my classicist self resists it, yelling something about classical sources and cultural mores back then). And his expression... Granted, his facial structure is slightly off, so that he might be looking at the viewer rather than his (very surprising) nymph, but still.

WIN.

chilalisnowbird In reply to scriptor-scriptorum [2010-03-26 19:47:06 +0000 UTC]

I admit it, I went slightly cartoonish to get the eyes like saucers.

Oh yes, I know, the classic myth definitely did not feature Persey going willingly (although not sexually abused on the spot either). There's nothing romantic or cute about the story of an abduction and a forced child bride, but damnit -- I -like- the idea of a feminist Persey just looking to thaw out the nerdboy of the Underworld, you know, the tall, dark, handsome and -silent- one. He's rich, he's the oldest of the three top gods, he's ... score?

scriptor-scriptorum In reply to chilalisnowbird [2010-03-26 19:54:54 +0000 UTC]

I agree on all points.

Plus, watch him turn out to be VERY EXCITED about his new-found sexuality... ^^

chilalisnowbird In reply to scriptor-scriptorum [2010-03-26 19:57:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, if Underworld Nerdboy is no different than repressed men anywhere else... Persey might find that she'll -need- that time off with her mom.

Dangit, now you make me want to draw her sitting in bed with the grin of the cat that got the cream and a most exhausted Hades-puddle in the footend.
