Taka no Sensou (literally: "hawk of war", or Warhawk), my beloved OS-tan.
This is an original character created by me. Drawn entirely in CorelDRAW as vectors with minimal references ( hair is HARD >.<;; ). Background, lettering, and pretty glowy effects done in Photoshop.
I don't consider myself much of an artist (I'm actually a Computer Engineer), so this started out as just a little tinkering, but ended up becoming my favorite work. This is the most complex art project I've ever undertaken, and the one I'm most proud of. :3
I plan on making a (very) short game with her, namely a visual novel. There will be pretty backgrounds and text and everything. I'll probably start with Powerpoint (lol).
Taka also has a younger sister, Fiinikkusu, who goes by Kusu for short ([link] ). She affectionately calls her older sister "Taka-neechan".

Actually, a friend of mine ([link] ) was showing me pictures she took at a fireworks display; I saw one picture that I thought looked like wings, so I took them into photoshop and did some work and...well, now she has wings ^^ I wasn't planning on it before, but now I'm really glad I did.

absolutely stunning. two areas of critique though: first off, the lips kinda bug me at the right corner. secondly, you may want to apply a distortion envelope to the tattoo, cuz it looks flat. especially with the strait line beneath it.

why photoshop? I don't know what corel is capable of, but it should be able to curve lettering, right?

I was going to say that Corel can't alter perspective of text, but while typing this out I found the Add Perspective tool. Lol

I had thought that any modern vector application could convert lines or text to editable shapes. one of these days I'll take Corel for a test drive. how is it for speed?

Corel's great for drafting, and for this project it's been quite helpful; you have great control over each node. Sometimes it slows down after using for a long time, but nothing a quick reload doesn't fix. My PC is built for gaming, so it wouldn't handle the program as well as a PC designed for CAD use. It runs faster on Quadro and FireGL cards vs. Geforce and Radeon cards, which makes sense. I use X4, but apparently X5 has better multicore support, so I might upgrade to that soon.
I haven't used the text tools in Corel much. It's quite possible it has more than I've found so far.

My life just became useless D: I'm nothing then, if this is a work of non-artist.
It surely looks very cute. If I was to suggest something, her arms might be placed too high, same with breasts. The nose might be a little lower and/or bigger, cause her face looks a little desolate.
But all in all, it's a great piece of work. Please share when you end the full body piece!

the coloring is beautiful. The shading and lighting are incredibly beautiful. My stuff is the exact opposite. I do things very quickly but low quality TTWTT
