This scenario isn't canon (these two show no romantic interest in one another til later in the story), but it makes one hell of a great 'what if.' I'm working on a short oneshot story to accompany this piece

When I try picturing what might actually have taken place to lead to this, I think of a brief moment of eye contact before she turns to run away. He can see something's wrong, so he chases after her. When he finally catches up to her, he sort of pins her against a wall as to prevent her from getting away, and it somehow leads to this
