So the new Pokemon starters turn up and this guy seemed initally the most striking. He kind of reminds me of "The Snowman" with his orange nose and pale complexion.Majimaru strikes me as a skittish, shy sort of species. The type of starter more likely to want cuddles rather than to fight (sort of like May's Squirtle)
In any case this lil fellas made a big enough impression that he's highly likely to be my starter for Gen 5 heh

It's actually not a snowman, it's a Sea Otter. Looks cute though. ^^

Oh I know now XD Just initally before the info was confirmed I thought it looked like a snowman at first which made me wonder if it would be a Water-Ice hybrid. But time will tell!

Oh, okay. xD When I first saw it I went, "OMG!! SEA OTTER!!" I've seen them before at aquariums, and It looked so much like them, especially with the clam shell on it's tummy. Clams and Oysters are Sea Otters favorite food~

My initial impression of this Pokemon was "What the heck is that?!! It's so ugly and creepy!" O_o But with people drawing this guy so beautiful, I started to see this Pokemon's cuteness. I am not sure if this will be my starter though. I am not too fond of the other two either. Time will tell. :3

I always find initial art for Pokemon can be iffy. I'm pretty sure I've always looked at the starters for each gen and sort of felt indifferent about them till they got an appearance in the anime to flesh the species character out or seen them in action in-game. Clearly Game Freak have done something right with this batch as a lot of artists seem to be inspired by them.
Though generally I dont think I've ever really outright disliked any one starter. I'm a bit meh on Dawn's Piplup due to its forced mascot status but its a fine Pokemon in the games

Very true! I haven't watched the anime yet but will eventually!
I never liked Piplup either but all that changed when I chose him in my Platinum version. It's my favourite starter from that generation alongside Turtwig!!
