It seems like an alternate version of Dante.Β I thought Ninja Theory gave Dante a great character arc that focused on isolation, distrust, and connecting with others.Β The overall story was simple, but I felt that the game used that to their advantage by making interesting characters and really fleshing out their personal arcs in surprisingly subtle ways.
I never felt that kind of connection to the original series, but agree to disagree I suppose.

I've watched the video and I disagree greatly with a lot of the posters points on the characters and narrative especially considering the strength of the character arcs.
While the game takes similar cues from "They Live" or "American Gods" it's the execution that I think is fantastic, especially by focusing on the inverse relationship of Dante revealing more of the demon world as he learns to grow closer to other people.

You can thank the DmC fantards who still keep thinking to this very day that his new redesigned looks is the reason why this abomination of a reboot is so hated and both companies (Ninja Theory and Capcom) for disrespecting us original Devil May Cry fans. With DMC5 being such a massive succes and the highest selling title in the entire series. 3.1.million copies to be exact the wuboot was a failed experiment that did nothing but almost kill off the series. I am refering to both commercially and in terms of general consensus among the fans and evrn those unfamiliar with the series as a whole. It is called reading between the lines. I just so happen to prefer DMC4 over DMC3 for plenty of reasons but that is my opinion. Incorrect. I only once gave a flying damn seeing such utter filth seeing the original Devil May Cry being crossoed over with the wuboot in this sort of manner. You know I find it freaking amusing since these days I often read about plenty ot old series from a wide variety of mediums being rebooted and brought back with the same amount of disdain for the customers and fanbase as the wuboot. Great way ofΒ enticing people to give your product a chance. Who doesn't love to be insulted and berated? That was sarcasm in case you missed it.Β
