XD This is awesome! Makes me think of KH2 where Sora and Co. jump into the old Disney cartoons.
Oooh....this should totally be a Zone, kind of along the idea of the Dick Tracy inspired Discovery Zone. I'm going to have to remember that idea now.
Thanks for the inspiration, Chauvels. I've been looking for some new zone ideas for my character to get mixed up in. But what to call it.....

i think it's because of games like "cuphead" and "bendy and the ink machine"!

I have always found the style cringy to be honest. And back when cartoons were made this way, things that were not meant to be alive suddenly and frequently would start singing and dancing across the screen. You don't see that in cartoons now though so why did it happen at all?

It's either that, or seeing another Tumblr/Calart style for the millionth time.

Because cartoons were supposed to be an escape from reality. To become popular they had to be interesting, eye-catching and surprise the people watching, by doing things that films, plays and books couldn't do. Those things, for example, being dancing, singing forniture with faces.
Now that cartoons aren't anything new and seen as only something for kids, there's not really a need to do that.

I think the appeal comes more from the appreciation of starting the cartoons we know and love today. We wouldn't have things like Steven Universe, Animaniacs, or Rocko's Modern Life (just to name a few) if is wasn't for those creepy dancing furniture and constantly-moving characters. Even if your not a fan of those old cartoons, you have to admit, seeing that animation style brought back to life in games (especially Cuphead!) is nothing short of amazing. Because no matter how old you are or what era you were born in, these types of cartoons are part of our childhoods in some way or another.
