I'd be the oddball with my tent on solid ground, haha. No way I could sleep suspended over a questionable purple river like that.
Anyway, I really love the colors on this! The rocks look so good, I can almost feel the cool wetness I would experience if I reached out to touch the crags.

I'm writing a series of scifi short stories. Is it okay if I link this image to the featured one from my gallery? (story about a space marine)

Are you kidding me? You're art is fine the way it is.

Mmm I have also never really had the natural ability to do landscapes. It only came just recently after many months of trial and error. I still have a lot of work to do before I'm where I want to be though. Just takes time.

Ok... Any tips on how to get there? Any pointers as to what to think about when training at doing scenery/enviroment/landscapes?

Ya know what. I mainly just focus on layering foreground and background. The background is always a paler more desaturated version of the foreground. Umm... other than that, it would be a good idea to show scale somehow, like putting people or recognizable objects in the scene. Values, values, values is what I have heard a lot. That still hasn't clicked for me yet.

Ok, thank you very much. Do you recommend using reference-photos? Do you have any particular tips on perspectives and textures(rock, sand, water)?

weeell. I prefer painting more than slapping textures. I do use textures and I get them from CGtextgures or my own photos that I've taken. A lot of it is really just figuring out how to blend textures with the scene. and persective... I'm not sure how experienced you are with it but I use a perspective grid when I know that I will have a lot of manmade objects in a scene.

Perspective grid? Ok, and that feature is available in photoshop? I think I saw the same feature in Corel Painter, though I never thought of using it(probably don't even know how to).

Nah it's just something you have to set up on your own. I'm sure if you look up 2 or 3 point perspective grid on google you can find it
