She has to be extra determined because she is invading what many people perceive as a male domain, including many men in her gym and in the audiences when she competes. Times are changing, but she wants to change them faster....

I would have to say that it's not whether or not it's male or female dominated. I think it has to do with whether or not a man or woman can compete with each other.
I believe it is a complimentary thing, not competitive. The yin and the yang of martial arts, as it were.
Women and men can both compete and co-exist in the dojo or boxing ring without resorting to needless conflict.
After all, it is the benefit of both, not dominance over one or the other that truly matters.

I agree with the principle but in practice many boxing gyms are still testosterone laden places where many of the guys feel the presence of grrrlz detracts from what they are doing. Top women boxers want to spar with guys to learn how to handle power inside the ring but a lot of guys are still uncomfortable with that. They are a brute if they dominate and a wuss if they don't.
There is still an aura of maleness around boxing that makes it an extra challenge for females, even now when the public is getting more exposed to female boxing competition.
I never wanted to fight guys but I did want them to accept that my efforts to learn boxing were as real as theirs and to give me the mental and physical space for them. Many boxing gyms are getting around to that but it is still a special kind of extra battle for grrrlz in combat sports because of traditional attitudes that have to be overcome on top of pure fighing technique to be learned and stamina and mental toughness to be developed.
The determined look of your grrrl in her training gloves evokes that for me,
Have you considered posting your art to some groups to get more exposure for it?

I have considered posting my art in other groups. In fact, I think I've joined several female boxing art groups but I just haven't gotten around to posting anything on them as yet.
Perhaps it's way past time that I should. Do you have any groups to recommend or that you belong to?

It's a good way to reach people with an interest in boxing art as group members get a notification whenever new art is posted to the group. It can lead new watchers to your site.

Yeah, why didn't think about posting into the groups before?? Duhh!!
At any rate, that's what I'll be doing more often; posting my art in other groups.
By the way, just out of curiosity, have you taken up any martial arts or have you trained strictly in boxing?

What I'm going to try to do is create more female boxing art, in particular women sparring and post them up, along with the martial arts artwork, too.

I will look forward to that a lot, just for my own interest!

Thanks again, mate.
I always wanted to draw Lara Croft in a judo-gi, so I figured, heck, why not, right?
I think it turned out pretty well.
I've got a second drawing of Lara Croft battling in a judo-gi against a female opponent that I'll be posting in another hour, so be on the look-out for it.
