Fourth in this series.This series of photographs was shot during a outdoor festival near my town.
The dancers in this series reflect my belief that belly dancers should have bellies.
This is not intended be a slam against thinner belly dancers. If you like them that's great. I just prefer the plus variety.

BBW's do not have that perfect body, but we should be appreciated as art as well!!! I don't think it's right that women are frowned on by society because of their beautiful full figure, I've always been told there's just more to love! I've been a plus size lady most of my life, but that don't mean that I'm not Beautiful!!!! Love the belly dancers!!!

Well thanks very much for that. Be assured you are beautiful. I love belly dancers especially if they have some belly as this one does. It is so much fun to watch her dance because you see in her expression that she is so comfortable with who she is and is so confident.

i think bing healthy is good...what i dont understand is how women can be belly dancers and be a twig...but i dont think that they should be unhealthy...curves are good....thinking of being a belly dancer my self....good excersize....

It is that. My wife took belly dance lessons for awhile until her back got so bad she couldn't do it any more.

I totally agree with you that belly dancers should have bellies. It does have its roots in fertility blessings, for goodness sake, so give us some nice healthy curves

Hi, I'm doing a speech tomorrow on Belly Dancers and I would love to use this picture in my slide depicting how belly dancing is not reserved for just "flat stomached woman". But that it reveals the beauty of the female form, in all forms.

It was a speech class. A few of them are still asking about it.

I've been a belly dancer for about three years now and I've seen so many different types walk in and out that door.
I can't forget the most beautiful dancer I'd ever seen.
She had just recently had a baby.
Her stomach moved with her boobs and hips
but it was just so amazing, it really adds to it.

I love the way you captured the movement, I have seen plus sized belly dancers and they dance as well as thinner ones. I have thought of taking classes. My sister used to dance so I know some moves and I used to help bead her costumes.

Oh my! You really should do that. You would make a fantastic belly dancer. The ladies who I have been in contact with tell me it is so much fun. And if you have least little bit of exhibitionist in you it would be fun for you too. Does your sister still dance? Any photos of her?

No she hasn't danced in years, too busy remodeling her antique house..lol.
She owns a house built in 1912 so they have spent years upgrading and repairing it.

Oh yah! The old house syndrome. I was in the construction industry for many years (remodel end) and we used to refer to them as money pits. LOL

They love it and have done almost all the work themselves even siding it just them and their sons. My sister owns her own tool belt and work boots!

beautiful! i am planning on taking some classes in bellydancing once i get a job! i've always loved everything about it, and i also believe that bellydancers should have bellies!
