Okay, it's back to being official in my Slayers storytelling!

It's been a few days since the end of "The World We Live In"...you're going to find out how Kyoko and Misa are holding up as they talk about their present and what the future might bring!

---

"On Occasion"

It was a new morning. Misa Asagi slowly roused from her sleep in her bed in the sisters' High End apartment. As she blinked awake, she realized her nee-chan wasn't lying next to her. Misa issued softly, "Mmm, Kyoko...?"

From the bathroom not far away, her angel answered, "I'm in here, Misa!" The door was closed, though. Misa also heard the sink running.

The sweet Vanquisher had slept in the nude with Kyoko, like always...as often happened the night before, they didn't want to sleep right away after they went to bed. (If you want to know any details, use your imagination!) Misa's one-piece lingere was laid carelessly on the endtable on one side. The girl slowly got out of bed and pulled the sheer and soft fabric on her lovely body. She said, "You woke up early, nee-chan, is everything okay?"

Kyoko answered, "If everything wasn't, you would be the first to know! I simply wanted to get an early start."

Misa smiled. "Okay! Will you be much longer?" She asked because she needed to, shall we say, take care of some business!

Misa heard the sink shut off and Kyoko said, "Actually, I'm done. Just a moment...!"

Only heartbeats later, Kyoko Asagi stepped out of the bathroom...and Misa stared at the sight she beheld! The younger sister breathed, "Oh...!" Misa was surprised because Kyoko was dressed in a way quite a bit different than usual!

The Warrior Worth a Thousand was, compared to the black uniform she usually wore, dressed in a much more everyday outfit. The only part of her wardrobe that was black was the shirt she wore under a light jacket with a miniskirt and long stockings...she also had a red bow in her hair, which wasn't a usual thing, too! Kyoko frowned at Misa's expression and asked, "What's wrong, Misa?"

Misa quickly answered, "Oh, nothing! It's just...wow, you look casual!" That was almost an understatement!

"Why in the world is that so surprising to you??"

The younger sister gave her nee-chan a look. "Kyoko, I haven't seen you dress like that since high school!"

Kyoko's brow crinkled. "Please don't mention that, my imoute!"

"I know, I know! You never liked high school..."

"There was hardly anything to like! Besides, it got in the damn way of my Initiate training, which I greatly preferred. I wouldn't have gone if our parents hadn't insisted we go to a public school in our teens."

Misa shrugged gently. "Mother and father just thought it was a good idea to meet more kids our age...they really wanted us to have lives no different from everyone else..."

Kyoko's face shifted to a deliberately neutral expression...there was bitterness in her voice as she said, "Yes...we wanted that too, my sweet. But after all the bullshit we had to endure recently, it..." She looked down and said much more softly, "It seems there are so many fools in this world who can only see us as being so different from them.

"The worst part of it was seeing you denied what you wanted, my treasure." Kyoko's adoring eyes met Misa's. Her voice thickened with emotion. "You always wanted to do so much with your life. I'd give everything for you, and to know you were hurt so deeply, I..." Kyoko felt so damn helpless only a few days ago in Hikari Abe Zong's office, when the man told them they weren't just refused readmission to Holy Ark University. Every major college in the damned Metropolis had effectively blacklisted the sisters from ever becoming students at their institutions. None of those schools wanted to risk any possible political problems Kyoko and Misa might bring with them, even though the recent Holy Ark Ten scandal wasn't their fault in ANY way!

In those moments in Hikari's office, Kyoko's characteristic stoicism briefly failed...she cried with Misa because their lives had been so affected in ways beyond their control.

Misa moved close to her elder sister...the love expressed in her blue eyes alone for Kyoko was depthless. The sweet girl said solemnly, "And you're my life, my angel. Please don't let the haters or anyone else get to you."

Kyoko's expression became much firmer...she reassured with a cool tone, "Oh, you need not worry about that. The day I let myself be defeated, much less give into the negativity of idiots, I wouldn't be worthy of calling myself a warrior!"

"Hikari-san did say he'd fix this, Kyoko. I'm sure he can."

"Hmf. You know as well as I do he can be a serious asshat. Two words: Meiko Kusanagi." It was a bummer that Hikari would be spending a while trying to live down: accepting Kyoko's protegee as a Slayer, yet never taking the trouble to be sure if Meiko was qualified or not!

"Sigh! I know...!"

The Warrior Worth a Thousand said in a more positive tone: "I do want to believe this can be remedied somehow. Someday." Kyoko moved to be very close to Misa...and as her hands moved to lovingly take hold of her sweet imoute's shoulders, Kyoko kissed Misa's cheek in a way that made her want to swoon. The elder sister said lovingly, "I want you to finish what you started and earn your degree, Misa! I know you'll be happy doing more to help people besides being a Vanquisher."

Misa felt like she was on a cloud...and then she said, "Angel...I want to ask something."

"Then ask, my sweet."

Misa looked into Kyoko's eyes and told her: "I feel like you didn't mind being expelled as much as I did. You're more worried about me getting a degree than caring about such a thing for yourself." The girl asked carefully, "Am I wrong...?"

Kyoko gazed back at Misa for a long moment before she answered. "Believe me, Misa, I hate what's happened to the both of us. The fools in charge at Holy Ark University decided we couldn't be students anymore. They stood in the way of our building a future we wanted for the stupidest of reasons..." A pause. "But..."

Misa urged with love, "Please. Tell me."

Kyoko spoke with total honesty. "No...I didn't mind being expelled very much. Being a warrior, a Vanquisher, that is what I am above everything. If I can't do or be anything else, if I could only define my life as a servant of the Heavens who cuts down evil with my sword..." Her voice was pure and certain as she was honest with her imoute and herself. "I would be truly happy with that."

Misa nodded as she smiled warmly. She knew Kyoko better than anyone. Misa said, "I know. You felt the same way when we went to high school...you wanted to train at the temple so much more. I can see it now more than ever, how much you love to be a warrior. You've even loosened up enough where you express how happy you are when we respond to Demonic threats. It makes me happy every time I see that beautiful smile on your face when you vanquish monsters."

Misa's lovely lips pursed with some amusement as she added, "I never thought you'd loosen up this much, though!"

Kyoko smiled back and advised, "It only seems that way. At times like this when it's peaceful and only on occasion, you and Eve and all our loved ones will see me dressed this way. You know how formal and conservative I am, and I love wearing black!"

Misa's smile was perfect as she said, "Absolutely not surprised, my angel. Still!"

"What?"

Misa Asagi playfully reached up with one hand and fiddled with the red bow in Kyoko's hair. "Even if it's on occasion, I'll need some time to get used to seeing your hair in a bow!"

Kyoko Asagi purred, "Be nice, my treasure!"
