Absolutely Beautiful! I love how the colors blend together, making the feathers look soft and real! I am just starting to try and learn how to use pastels, and I'm afraid I'm not very good at it.

This is amazing! We tried to do some street art last fourth of July and it was nowhere near this good.

what kind of chalks did you use? I use the koss soft pastels. Soft pastels are just regular kids street chalk but with more pigment.

They were just regular kids street chalk. It was done as an activity before the parade. One of the local businesses handed out the chalk. We actually got to keep the chalk afterward. You inspire me to try again this summer. How do you get the pigment to stick to the pavement? My son started just smearing the chalk into the pavement to get it to spread better. Otherwise, it just stuck to the small rocks that stood up out of the cement.

Your son has the right technique! I lay the pigments or colors I want and then use packaging foam to smear the color together. (saves on the finger tips ) When I get the look I want, I'll spray it with cheap hair spray. This keeps it from washing away to quickly after it rains. If I wanted I could go back and touch it up. ^^

Wow! thanks for the tips. Once the rain goes away, we'll have to find some pavement and try it.

They look very similar to the rainbow lorikeets eating the pears in my backyard!
Slightly different colouration though.

yeah, I thought they were lorikeets too... dunno if they are a type of breed I've just not seen before. Could be.. the bio site has extinct animals mix in on there as well.

Very good.
I love birds, so I took a closer look. Imagine my surprise at finding it to be "sidewalk" art.
Question.
Do you know what a temple rubbing is?
