Description FULLVIEW FO' SERIOUS!

for Konvulse pack 7 - Faith [link] please take a look, it was a really great pack and we put a lot of work into it!

Immediately when I hear the word faith I associate it with ambiguity. It comes from the perception that faith explains the ambiguity of religion and of this world. This ambiguity is the unclear cauldron of the unexplainable mandates that govern many people's lives. I am alluding to the way that many religions utilize faith as a justification of the convictions and lifestyles presented and pressured upon followers. However, from within this cauldron of uncertainty emerges that which is defined and accepted through progressive scientific communities as fact and theory. Unfortunately the coexistence of these two disciplines of faith, one that views it as an explainer and one that views it as an assumption of more to understand, is seldom fluid and often held by fragile tolerance.

It is exactly these ideas that I hoped to communicate through this purely vector work. The very technical components of the jutting spires and layered mechanism represent the scientific use of faith while the fading and jumbled drips represent the religious use of faith. In between they are separated by a thing dashed line that separates while concurrently allowing an interchange of ideas and minds. The choice of vectors reveals something about how I view the debate and conflict, that underlying everything there is a mathematical equation that rationalizes everything.

thanks, i'm really glad most people took the time to read the explanation, altho, i might feel the second half took the fun out of the personal interpretations.

It's alright, not a lot of my work was up for artistic interpretation, but that doesn't mean people can't cherish the aesthetic value of the work though

yeah, that's one thing that really bugs me about artgroups and digital art in general. i mean, i understand the urge to create visually pleasing images, i do it quite often, and its quite easy with digital methods; however, that isn't the route of modern art. the visuals are secondary, altho in my opinion nearly equal, to the underlying ideas. The concept should dictate the visuals, not meaning applied to visuals. I truly believe that if we want to embrace the spirit of modernity and be at the forefront of our art we must shift our emphasis from a word and pretty pictures to a thoughtful and strong personal and ideological connection to the ideas involved in the creation of a work and how we relate these visually. the pieces can still be aesthetically pleasing, but because of other reasons aside from the visual mastery of color typography and color.

in all honesty i can pick out a handful of work from each of the packs and presented them to someone who had not seen them before they would be unable to correctly connect the piece with the theme.

i could write about this all night, and it would help my own understanding as much as relate to you my thoughts, but alas, the lady is waiting and I'm hungry.

For me, art groups are just motivation to keep me active in doing art because I think it's a good habit, something that everyone should try. That way I don't have to wait for some amazing thing to happen in my life to express my feelings about it lol. My problem right now is I take art way more seriously outside of school, and school is more of a secondary thing because the things I produce in class don't really have much meaning, and my only means of motivation for getting it done is a good grade and happy parents. It's not like I can show them how the stuff in my gallery is the most important things in my life right now even though it really is, and the art I make based on the lessons I learned outweigh the value of anything I learn in a studio art class or any classroom for that matter. Oh well lol, just 2 more years of this stuff.

lol, pretty much the same way I feel about school. altho, i have a history of not doing the assignments as asked for, but still turning in great work, so i slide by because its hard to give something a bad grade solely because i choose to use a different application or changed the guidelines a bit.

I know what you mean, I got lazy in my graphic design class near the end but I got a good grade because I became friends with my teacher and he gave me a job cause one day he brought a camera to class and he didn't know how to use it, so instead of working on what he told the class to I just started to talk to him about it and give him tips. The next day he calls me and gives me a job and within 2 months I got a huge raise xD.
