Oceanna and her Newborn Baby Beluga @ Marineland

For once I actually like the way waterwebbing makes this shot look! Yay! lol... usually it just winds up being overexposed, and ruins all my shots... I love the deep colours in this shot as well, and the belugas' poses

I really like this photo mostly because of the position of both mom and calf. You feel a sense of watchfulness or guidance. The calf is clearly looking at its mother and she looks as if she is watching the calf making sure it doesn't go astray. I have a feeling you had to zoom into get this and I'm very pleased how well it is focused. The draw back of this photo is the amount of blue in it. If I could I would add some more space on the bottom and to the right. But this is an amazing photo despite the few draw backs. Just a wonderful job!

The waterwebbing is truly excellent as well as being so close. I suppose that it is hard to get good pictures down there and then one of mom and baby so close is just great!

Thank you so much! The lighting that day was remarkable, and so was the surface of the water, with a gentle wind...

I know exactly what you mean about time passing by quickly without realizing it. I have been totally in my element photographing these snow leopard cubs lately. Where has all the time gone...

You're welcome.

Wow. Look at the water webbing! Very unique.

Do you have any pictures of the actual birth, or of the labor process? Those would be interesting to see.

Thanks! The water-webbing almost reminded me of lace... so pretty
I do have several photos of Kelowna's labour, but I haven't decided if I'm going to post them or not... I would HATE for them to get stolen... maybe a few will go on facebook with a watermark
Thanks so much for ing!

Yeah, I'd hate for them to get stolen too. I saw the ones that Mike posted, and they were really interesting!
