"The planet is just a shell for this parasite - its spine punctures the mountains and tears the skies asunder as int consumes the magic infused with the world over a few millennia. Even planetary gods fear this creature, for the song of destruction following its arrival is often prepended by frantic warnings of gods who fled their original planets. When the world is drained of its power, the creature discards the planetary shell and drifts to another world.

Magic can regrow on planets after it disappears -- if the planet wasn't annihilated when the creature ejected itself from the world. Few civilizations have been known to survive its attack, but the ragtag group of gods and civilization remnants have banded together in unison, hoping to devise a way to destroy this creature.
