I've always admired Amos Slade from The Fox and the Hound. He is one of the few Disney villains to have a change of heart, rather than being killed by the hero/they're own stupidity.I really love that at the end, he shows empathy and compassion towards both Tod and Copper.
I think more villains should be shown to change, rather than just killed off.

Now that is a really heartwarming (not to mention pretty movie-accruate) piece.
Same here - Amos does remind me of my own uncle a little (we used to go to the forest with his family aaaaages ago) and there's just that uncle-y aura about him that hints he's not evil at heart. Grumpy, maybe; short-tempered (who wouldn't flip their lid if their chickens were in danger?), but not a heartless killer. :]
