I think its because of the removal of the arc reactor in the ending, along with the fact that on this arc of the comic, Extremis is a super soldier formula, and tony injects himself with it to become one with the mk 42 (or how the comic calls, extremis armor) But I think the movie was amazing

I love this style!! As for the movie, I understand why a lot of people were angry about the Mandarian twist. I was on the fence about it but after I watched it for a second time I came to love it and see how much it really works in this movie.

To me, Iron Man is the most realistic of all the Marvel superheroes. He's not a mutant, and he's not altered by radioactivity or spider bites. He's just natural, and he has an acute business mind and human skills. Tony Stark is cool, and he's probably Marvel's answer to Bruce Wayne/Batman, since Batman came in the 1930s to 1940s, while Iron Man came in the later decades. Good work, I have yet to see Iron Man 3, but I have heard mixed things about it. Two of my friends said it was pretty cool, but I'll have to be the judge for myself.

realistic except for the fact that he flies around in an nigh-indestructible suit that's practically paper thin and yet falls out of the sky and gets smashed through buildings without his fleshy human body being mashed to a pulp inside it

Of course there are impractical and over-the-top elements, but that's what makes it interesting. If everything was realistic, it wouldn't be much fun. That chest battery was courtesy of his time in captivity during the war. At least he was able to get free by making an armored suit and turning the tables on his captors.
