Description
This image was created for a workshop that appears in ImagineFX 57. It's about creating a male fantasy figure with a focus on anatomy and skintone, and was loads of fun to work on
! There's an anatomical breakdown of the muscles of the torso, how I deal with skin, color, texture, and some thoughts on painting male figures in general.This particular guy is based on the concepts of the Greek and Roman sun gods Apollo and Sol - you can read all about my trials and tribulations with him in the current issue

This is absolutely beautiful. It is perfect in every sense of the word & reminds me of the murals of the Angels in the Catholic church I used to go to as a child. Thank you so much for sharing.

I am really taken by this. I am a fan of Greek and Roman sculpture and art. they paid such heed to the fine anatomical details that it brought the stone alive. If you have seen close-up details of Michelangelo's David, the detail in the toenails, the skin, the ligaments is incredible. You see the same kind of detail in his paintings. The drapery here is more of a Papal influence, LOL. Cudos on the light and texture work on the Dial. I am also happy to see the inclusion of light magic. The Bow and bow hand (great detailing of the hands) practically pop of the canvas in realism.
It has been a while since I have visited here. I was not doing so well, but a day at a time. I am happy to see from your journal that you are feeling in higher spirits. I hope you are feeling fully recovered. It was a long hard road.

This is absolutely stunning! I love the vibrancy of the color and the harmony. Blue and yellow are my two fave colors. I also love the sparkles around the arch, they give it a lot of life. I am blown by your anatomy skills, so I won't even dare ask any technical details. And very faithful portrayal of Apollo!
I think he's the same as the Egyptian's sun god, Ra, no?
