Description Another photo from the Deathcom photo booth, Serenity this time I like this one since it shows the ginzushou necklace I made well, and also the sticker gems I used for her extra earrings (they never show in other pictures, so this makes me stupidly happy)! XD

Costume made and worn by me!

This cosplay is AMAZING! I'm hoping to cosplay as Princess Serenity for AX 2012 and was wondering if you have any tips for making the costume like fabric types or something. It'd really mean alot please and thank you! <3

Thank you so much! I'm not exactly sure of what the fabric is, to be honest (I got it a while back in NYC and didn't have the sense to take note of what the roll said ), but JoAnn's has a kind of fabic called "Peach skin" that has a similar look and drape Besides the fabric, did you have any other specific questions about how I made it? I'll do my best to answer ;D

Okay I just came up with another question lol XD
What kind of wig did you use as a base for the sailor moon wig? I can't find a good wig as a base. I'm reading up on how to make the odangos and attach the pigtails and stuff but do you recommend any specific techniques or tutorials? And out of curiosity how long did it take to make the dress and the wig, respectively? lol
Sorry for all the questions!

I bought the wigs (I ended up needing five) I used to make my Usagi wig from an ebay seller, but they don't have that wig anymore It was a longish, straight wig with bangs and a skin part. As for techniques, when I made mine I used this tutorial for the odango and basic styling stuff [link] and this one for the pigtails [link] . I also attached the pigtails to hair-clips so I could take them off when I was storing the wig

The wig took me about a year, off and on (partly because it was all a huge experiment and I didn't want to rush it and partly because I kept having to order more wigs, lol), and the dress itself I worked on for about a month and a half, I think? Something like that

Last two questions as the time for AX is upon me! XD
Where did you get your forehead moon? I've been scouring the internet to no avail :[
And how did you get the ends of the dress to wave like that?

I found my moon on ebay (they were buttons), but I haven't seen any like them there since And for the other question, I'm not quite sure what you mean, do you mean the bottom hem?

LolitaDice In reply to Cepiapon [2012-06-13 07:05:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes the bottom hem haha thats what I meant.

Cepiapon In reply to LolitaDice [2012-06-15 03:24:21 +0000 UTC]

It's actually just a normal straight hem, it might just look wavy because of how the fabric drapes ^_^

I'm hoping to do a cosplay of Princess Serenity soon, and I must ask: how did you do the gold circles on the bodice?
Your costume looks gorgeous. I'm in awe.

Cepiapon In reply to PrismWings [2011-05-05 18:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! For the circles, I cut out circles of stiff interfacing and glued gold cord to each one. After they had dried, I brushed glue all over them so they wouldn't fall apart. Here's a close-up I took of the bodice after I had finished most of it, it'll probably help too [link]
