This graphic is inspired by the children's poem The Spider and the Fly by Mary Howitt. [link]

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

The spider's flattery eventually wins the fly over and that is the end of the fly. The moral of the poem is to be wary of people who flatter you to achieve their own ends. I was thinking of someone I once knew

The moral of that story is a very valuable life lesson. One that most of us have encountered at one point or another. Job well done!

Me too! My mother often quoted it to me and I realise now that I should have listened to the lesson it carried.
