In Greek mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, King and Queen of the kingdom of Ethiopia.
Her mother claimed that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, the daughters of the sea god Nereus. To punish the Queen for her arrogance, Poseidon, god of the sea, sent a sea monster (Cetus) to ravage the coast of Ethiopia. The king consulted the Oracle of Apollo, who said that the only solution to the problem was for the king to sacrifice his virgin daughter Andromeda to the monster.
She was chained to some rocks on the coast to await her fate when Perseus saw her and fell in love....but that is another story.

Once again I am impressed, but since Andromeda is an Ethiopian, have you considered making a copy of this image with darker skin? Kinda've curious.

Thank you for the compliment I recently had a friend ask why I chose so many thin models and the same answer I gave her would apply in this case. I choose the model based on the pose and suitability to the theme I wish to create. Of course there is no reason why I couldn't make her darker skinned with darker hair but to be honest, it just didn't occur to me as the artwork was an exercise in emotion, painting hair, leg and clothing. I need to go back and fix a few mistakes that I can now see but couldn't then.

lol, no matter what you do, I support your work here and think its a true masterpiece, you see emotion, paintaing, hair, leg and clothing are symbols of the sincerity of your craft, the fact that you beat yourself up and expect perfection, while concentrating forevermore on achieving new heights, makees you a winner and a worthy successor to greats such as Da Vinci, Musashi and Beethoven, who dedicated themselves heart and soul to those very same ideals. Keep up the good work!

Yes, it would be difficult although I am sure that I have seen quite a few artworks of Medusa, Andromeda, Pegasus and Aphrodite on dA. You could always expand the group by adding a myths and legends folder from the same period, which would make things easier for you and gain more members.
