I mean what I say every time I tell you that letting my eyes wonder over your wonderful works lifts my spirits.
And that whole bit you have there about "Just slap some colours on a piece of paper you’re bound to get someone willing to buy it"... even less of chance now, my brother, because people are finally starting to realize what a big con that sort of stuff is. What's "valuable" in art these days is application in entertainment. For movies, games, comics, cartoons, etc. The important skills are the ability to use anatomy, expression, apply proper and consistent style (and I mean throughout a single project. Having the ability to do more than one or two styles is great these days!), making believable characters, clothing designs, etc. I've seen you do all these things. More importantly, you continue working to improve your skills and seek further knowledge and inspiration to do so (as I've seen from the art tuts you keep tumbling).
So don't go dismissing yourself just yet, ok? You have even more to give and inspire with than you think.

Yeah, I can totally relate to this-- if you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to look, mi amigo.
Though, it's probably not me, because we hardly know eachother. :I

*sigh* Hun', you're not a useless butt.
You're not even useless. You ARE an artist, but not in a way most people think nowadays. You are a creator. You are a writer, without having to write a single page. You developed and made characters, maybe just for the fun of it, that are fathoms deeper than anything I've seen. You don't just make art, or pretty graphics, you formulate information and details about everything you do. You have told stories; you have RETOLD stories- from role plays you've been in, or interactions with friends- and made them your own. You have great creative stamina and a mind like a labyrinth when it comes to new ideas.
You take ideas, or molds for imagination- like the customization for Fable heroes or just My Little Pony characters- and build entire empires of thought upon them! Look at Tristan; from a simple stand point by the people of Lionhead, he's just a male Hero. You could have stopped there, shown him off, and then went on to the next thing. But you didn't. You took that idea, and ran with it!
You have the capability of taking a simple idea, or a reference, or a source of inspiration, and creating something amazing. Something no one else could ever have thought of!
Now, that might be hard to fit on a resume, but that's a skill everyone around you has to figure out. I know every one of your followers have, and it's about time your coworkers do too. Doesn't matter where you go in life, what job you take, or who you have to work with; if you at least show the world this talent of yours, this skill, you won't be useless. You won't be left behind, or whatever else you think will happen. Wanna know why?
Because people NEED ideas. People need inspiration, or a source they themselves can build off of. You can become a source, girl. You could work for any company out there, big or small, and create an icon or symbol that everyone else could see and identify something with. You could become an animator, or a story writer, and have a character become beloved and fanfic'ed all across the internet! Or you could do something as simple as help create a new cookbook by creating some new recipes, or be part of a brainstorming team for a new product. You're not just an artist, who spends a lot of time with fandom or role plays--you're gifted. You are a kind of idea person that the world needs, more than ever. And the only way to prove that is to show it off.
If there's a project at work no one wants to do, volunteer for it. If there's a problem at work that you think you have a good solution for, then suggest it. Don't sit back and hate on yourself for being "one-sided" in your skills, because I'm sure everyone here wants to see you become the next new face in whatever you really want to do.
And be warned. If you keep this up, expect more sappy, Hallmark-y inspiring speeches from me, ya' hear!

It sounds like you need a metaphorical cigarette yourself sweetie...and I'm always around if you do.
Life at the moment is hard everywhere I think. I graduated from university and am sending out a buttload of job applications and recieving a whole load of nothing in return, which I have to say is disheartening. But I will not give up, life is being an epic jerk but I shall just tell it "screw you" and carry on. Its a b*tch to be sure but just try for little things at a time, perhaps find a charity like I did and volunteer for them. I mean when I went into that I had a stammer when nervous and having to deal with people made me want to run away screaming, but I forced myself through the initial hell of it and now it is far easier (although dealing with strangers still has the residual "oh sh*t oh sh*t oh sh*t" feeling to it.
I think the breakthrough came for me when my doctor put me onto medication (clinical depression plus psychological abusive mother...but hey what can you do right ^_~) I don't want to be on this stuff for ever but it helps for now and make it so I can function in society for the most part without the dramatic lows that used to make me lock myself in my room.
Also sweetie you should realise you are someone important, every follower here, to everyone who has viewed you art, everyone you've ever talked to you've touched each of us (in a totally non-creepy way). That is doing something with your life hun and you still have plenty of time to do more with your life yet don't give up too soon.
Personally you've given me some smiles and laughs when I needed them most by looking at your art and I still come back to your gallery when I am feeling in need of cheering up, you just have such amazing stuff.
So yeah never forget you are certainly important to us.
Also noticed you and Diko talkinga about the candy cigarettes and thought I'd share something similar one of my friends got her hands on recently [link] ...I used to think these were great and must admit they still amused me having them even now (cos I am so grown up and mature ^_~) sadly mine are once again all gone and I must go on a mission to try and find where she got them from XD

I always saw some type of symbolism with the use of cigarettes in art. You didn't even put a whole lot of detail into this pic and it has such a large effect.
This is something we all can relate to, and it's the whole nation really. It's not easy to find your dream job anymore let alone ANY job in general. I've talked to a lot of kids that question going to college anymore because a lot of graduates it seems aren't really getting anywhere themselves...but you've already lived and experienced so much, who knows what is in the future.
Just by giving yourself to others by sharing your talents, your company, and your views, that's already having meaning in life because so many people benefit from it.
I wish they still made candy cigarettes though :/
