Me again. I need to thank you, cause I wasn't aware of the other names for this far-out plant. We planted "Bachelor Buttons" two weeks ago and I didn't know what we were in for. THIS is what bloomed out: [link]

It's a coincidence that the angles are alike. I shot this from the hip. (I didn't "sight" it. Just lowered the camera and snapped. My back hurts too much today to get "down and dirty" with my subjects today. )

My neighbor has these (I love them but they're going by). I took pics of the white variety at a nursery in New Hampshire. I didn't know they had so many names. We have Bachelor Buttons planted but I don't think they'll look like this. But I hope they do.
I've been telling others that the ones I see next door are Centaurea Montana, the mountain cornflower. Did I goof?

Hi Chris, I saw your [link] and found the flowers looking exactly like mine. I've also looked up Centaurea Montana online and found them looking exactly the same as well. I was told that they are Bachelor Buttons a while back by the neighbor, but now I looked up some pictures online and think Centaurea Montana matches the flower more accurately. I'll make the correction. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Hope I didn't come across as Know-It-All. Sometimes species can look ALOT alike but of course have different latin names. The white "bachelor buttons" I see on here remind me of a ripe watermelon with black pips.
I look things up with Wiki. I ASSUME the info on there is by knowledgeable people. I still love it. ^^

Thanks for the link. I forgot BB was in the lineup.
The BB's we used to TRY to plant (in SAND? I was like 7, what did I know? ) looked more like Mums. At least that was what the seed package illustration showed. Of course I never found out cause it didn't grow. Stupid me.)

I LOVE this flower
In my hometown (Bochum) there are only 2 or 3 in the whole year. In secret places ;D

Nice Pic (:

Glad you loved it, Olivia!
Bachelor's button is quite hardy and common here in Rochester NY. It is a perennial plant that comes back to life year after year!
