Thanks from me also. Great portrait! I'm thinking of buying a light modifier for the summer, I already have couple of umbrellas (with speedlites)... but I think I need more direction to the light sometimes Would you advice me on which one to buy, beauty dish or a softbox? I'll be using it in portraits with max 2 people (weddings) and with a speedlite (portability is important). Thank you for any info you can give

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cbyn In reply to mpdman [2013-04-22 19:19:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

I have a large beauty dish for speedlites from Lumodi, but for me it is hard to call it portable (use it few times). However the light is great.
So if you need mobility, imho, softbox is a right choice.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mpdman In reply to cbyn [2013-04-23 16:17:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much for answering! Mobility is important, but if there would be noticeable difference in light "quality" I would be able to cope with a big dish. If you would have shot this portrait with a softbox(roughly the same size) instead of the dish, how do you estimate the change? Harsher/softer shadows? Help is much appreciated

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cbyn In reply to mpdman [2013-04-23 17:09:11 +0000 UTC]

dish would be softer, but mobility...
use the force of mobility for everything else, use photoshop
