hmm try using palette colours like these Β a good friend showed it to me. You don;t have to strickly follow these colours but they blend and compliment each other nicely. Maybe you can like mix and match them with the colours you're using right now to see if it gives any 3D like effect and complimentary coloursΒ that blend nicely. I think if you want your colors to look better you should look into color theory instead of shading a color with a darker version of said color (yellow with a darker yellow).
