Description this is M1483, a red wolf male who is going to be a breeding male for the red wolf breeding program i'm pretty sure that he is rated #2 in the world for his genetic diversity.

this was taken as he was being released into his new enclosure today.

the wolves always howl to newcomers as a sort of "welcome home, buddy." i have a whole bunch of video clips of them howling actually

but man, if you haven't ever heard a red wolf's howl, you're missing out! they are some of the sickest noises you'll ever hear xD

I haven't heard about this, is there a website? These are the wolves that they think are breeding in the wild (or DID) with coyotes, making the yotes bigger and various colors.

haha interesting! they are planning to release their pups into north carolina. they are the only site in the world right now that has 2 breeding pairs of red wolves, and they have 33% of the world's mexican wolf population! haha [link] that's the conservation center's website.. and check out the blog too [link]

Hmm, it's just going to cause more troubles - unfortunately we (humans) haven't mastered how to manage wolves and game populations and once again we'll screw it up and only the wolf will lose.

well at least the highly endangered red wolves are being given a chance for life in the wild again haha
