This Slav witch is an old hag who rules over the elements, and flies through the air in a mortar using the pestle as a rudder. Her realm is the birch forests of old Russia, and she sweeps away her tracks with a broom made of silver birch.

Baba Yaga ages a year every time someone asks her a question. Her nose is long and bent, her teeth are made of iron, and her hair is long and grey from age. Typically she sits with one leg curled beneath her, the other dangling, and is sometimes known as Baba Yaga Boney Legs because, in spite of a ferocious appetite, she is as thin as a skeleton.
